Decomposed body of man found hanging from tree

News  Date: 21 September 2007

Louis Trichardt police are still puzzled by the death of a man whose body was found hanging from a tree along the Vivo Road on September 13.

The 52-year-old man’s decomposed body was found after a farm resident reported a parked Nissan 1400 bakkie with Gauteng registration along the road, which had been standing there for a couple of days. Police visited the scene and while searching the nearby bushes found the body.

Local police spokesperson Capt Maano Sadike said it is suspected that the bakkie belonged to the deceased. His identity document was found in his pocket but at the time of going to press, Capt Sadike said that the man’s next of kin had yet to be traced. He added that it is suspected that the man had returned home from Gauteng when he apparently committed suicide.

In the meantime, police have opened an inquest docket. Capt Sadiki urged members of the public with information about the man to come forward and phone the Louis Trichardt SAPS at Tel 015 519 4300. The contact person is detective branch head, Capt Fransisco Ramovha.
