The mayor of Makhado Municipality, Cllr Glory Tsakane Mashaba, officially launched the Thsikota and Louis Trichardt Extension 9 street surfacing project at an event that was held at the Tshikota Community Hall last Monday.
According to the municipal manager, Ms Faith Muthambi, the project started in January this year. Muthambi added that a little more than R4 million was budgeted for Tshikota´s 3,37 kilometers surfacing project and that R3,3 million was budgeted for the 2,4 km Louis Trichardt Extension 9 project.
"We are happy that our contractors have successfully completed the project in a record time. Contractors finished the project three months earlier than expected," she said.
Muthambi further indicated that the mayor has also officially handed over phase 1 of the Dzanani street surfacing project of 1.8 km, which started in January 2006. The budget of this project was R2,364 million, she said.
The mayor, Cllr Mashaba, said that people must appreciate what the municipality has managed to do with minimal resources available.
