“Son” to be buried after 30 years

News  Date: 28 September 2007

"This is my missing son, Nditsheni, and I won’t rest until I give him a proper burial," said an angry Mr Peter Ramogondo, referring to the human remains exhumed at the Mutiti Mountains on August 27.

Nditsheni Ramagondo was 15 when he went missing in February 1976 in the company of his late uncle, Samson Ramagondo, and his cousin, Matamela Balibali, while going to hunt.

Mirror has established that his late uncle, Sason Ramagondo, came back alone and told Nditsheni‘s father that the boys were left behind but ensured him that they were coming. A day passed and Nditsheni did not return home. Then another, then days turns into weeks, weeks turns into months … and months turned into years.

The community around Mutititi and Tshirolwe went out searching for Nditsheni, with no result. A missing person’s case was opened at Dzanani.

Now that Peter Ramagondo believes that the remains of person found in the mountain are those of his son, he wants forensic tests to be run on him. "This my son and I won’t rest until the test is done. Even if he might not be my long missing son, every human deserves a proper burial," he said.
