Police confiscate illegal cigarettes worth thousands

Some R63 000 worth of illegal cigarettes were confiscated by members of the Bandelierkop police, following a search of a bus at the Capricorn toll plaza on Sunday, September 23.

According to Bandelierkop police spokesperson Insp Zwidofhela Ramabulana, the bus was pulled over after a tip-off by an informant. The bus was stopped as it approached the toll plaza. Upon searching the bus, the large quantity of cigarettes was found hidden in suitcases and plastic bags. Unfortunately, none of the passengers claimed ownership of the cigarettes. It was confiscated and taken to the Bandelierkop police station.

Insp Ramabulana said the police are thankful for any information that could assist them in their fight against crime.
