Since Monday a fortnight ago, there has been a poor water supply at Madobi in Hlanganani, due to the lack of diesel needed for the pump machine.
There is only one tap in the entire village of more than five hundred stands, where people can get water.
The problem affects all the people, but the pupils who are at present writing exams are complaining that the water situation will have a bad effect on their results.
The cause of the problem is said to be the lack of diesel which is supposed to be delivered for free by the government. It has been more than two weeks now, but still there is no diesel.
A grade 12 learner from the local high school, who asked not to be named, said that this was unfair to them as their time for studying is being limited by spending many hours in queues for water. Others spend sleepless night as they go to fetch water at night as the number of people is smaller at night.
Ward councilor Ramashia said that he was aware of the problem. He said that there is currently no diesel at Vuwani, Louis Trichardt and Hlanganani. The problem was still unsolved at the time of going to press.
