The Mphephu SAPS was rewarded for excellent service during a function held at the Mphephu polices station a fortnight ago.
According to the provincial results that were announced during the event, Mphephu SAPS won the category for outstanding service in the medium police station division (Category B). Category B comprises police stations that register fdewer than 1 000 cases per month. Mphephu SAPS was also given an award as the best station, registering no escape from lawful custody for the past 12 months.
Mphephu SAPS Station Commissioner Sr Supt Dovhani Leornard Luvhengo told Mirror that they managed to achieve all that through close cooperation, team spirit within the station, partnership with the community, trust and strategic management.
"We liaise with the community to help us curb crime. We encourage areas that do not have community policing forums to start one. That will help the community and the SAPS to manage crime in these areas," said Luvhengo.
Limpopo Provinsional Commisioner Calvin Sengani has praised the Mphephu SAPS for their outstanding performance, adding that this is not Mphephu´s first achievement. "I condemn SAPS personnel who dent the SAPS´s image for their personal gain." He was speaking about a police inspector based at the Waterfall police station who was linked to several cash withdrawals of Mushaathama Secondary School.
