The three suspects charged with the murder, attempted murder and armed robbery which took place at Khoja’s Modern Store in Eltivillas (Louis Trichardt) on September 5 again appeared in the Louis Trichardt magistrate’s court.
Dovhani Richard Raphebele (26) from Madombizha Zone 2 is still in custody, while the other two, Mulalo Prince Ludere (30) from Madombizha and Nehomed Panwala (30), who is residing in town, were released on bail.
Both Ludere and Panwala attended the court appearance on Tuesday, November 20.
A large sum of money was robbed and a well-known Indian businessman, Mr Yogendra Baboo Gehlani (60), was shot dead during the incident. Mr Gehlani’s dad, Mr Baboo Mohanlal (84), was wounded in the attack.
One of the suspects was apprehended by employees of the business and almost beaten to death before police arrived on the scene.
The court postponed the case against the three was postponed until January 16, pending further investigation. It is rumoured that the case will be referred to the High Court, but at this stage the decision of the DPP (Director Public Prosecution) is still pending.
