MOPANI – The police in Mopani are investigating three murder cases, following incidents that took place in the area over the past weekend.
The first incident took place at the Cocktrust settlement, where a 53-year-old man, Sachuis Mavuso, was shot and killed by unknown men. According to the police spokesperson in the area, Capt Moatshe Ngoepe, the deceased was sleeping in his house when the incident occurred. He heard a knock at the door. When he opened the door, he was greeted with a shower of bullets. He died instantly.
The motive for his killing was still unknown at the time of going to press.
The other incident took place at Marite Village. That is where Mr Henry Masia (36) was shot and killed by another man at the local shop, after a short argument over a girlfriend.
No arrest had been made at the time of going to press, despite the fact that the police knew the suspect. In the other incident that also took place at Marite Village, an unknown man, whose age is estimated at about 26, was found lying dead in the street.
There was a bullet wound in his head. According to the police statement, the deceased had tattoos all over the body. He was wearing a black hat, khakhi jacket and black shoes at the time of his death. Anyone who can identify the body can go to the Calcata government mortuary where it is kept.
The police have appealed to anyone with information to contact D/Insp Calvin Matsane of the Calcata Police Station at Tel 013-708 6005.
