30-year-old man killed in fire

News  Date: 21 December 2007

A 30-year-old Musina man burnt to death on Saturday while sleeping in his house in the Nancefield suburb.

Musina SAPS spokeswoman Const Deborah Bob said the incident occurred on Saturday at around 03:00. She added that the circumstances are still unclear, but the initial investigations indicate that the fire originated in the kitchen.

"The deceased, Mr Michael Gauta, was sleeping alone in his room, when the fire eventually erupted from the kitchen, before it eventually spread to where he was sleeping," she said.

The incident was reported to the police by the man’s neighbours. Mr Gauta’s body was taken to the Louis Trichardt government mortuary for a post mortem.

"We are now investigating to establish the exact circumstances that led to the incident," said Bob.
