News  Date: 11 January 2008

Advocate Masia Masia was appointed as the new head control prosecutor at the Louis Trichardt Magistrate Court, replacing Mr Reino Mostert who has been promoted to head prosecutor.

Adv Masia has an LLB degree in law, which he obtained through the University of Limpopo and is currently busy with his master´s degree in law, which he told the Zoutpansbeger he plans to complete this year.

The 37-year-old Adv Masia started working for the NPA (National Prosecuting Authority) in 1997 and until his appointment to Louis Trichardt was working at the local magistrate court of Kgapane, which is situated close to Modjajiskloof.

According to Adv Masia, his new appointment brings new challenges, but it is not that different from his previous job.

"This is just the next level; the rest is not so different," he said.

Adv Masia said he is up to the task in replacing Mr Mostert, continuing to ensure swift justice. The first challenge facing him is indentifying older cases and seeing to it that they are concluded as soon as possible. By doing this, Adv Masia said, this will not only help him keep his office in a more manageable state, but also help him to handle the workload more efficiently.

Adv Masia believes in teamwork, and that is exactly what he wants to accomplish with his prosecuting team in Louis Trichardt. He also mentioned the importance of residents´ providing information to both the police and his team of prosecutors, which will ensure the successful prosecution of all criminals.

"I want to spread the message that there is still justice in our South African courts," he said.

Residents should take note that although Mr Mostert will still be at the local court for the next week or two before saying farewell to his colleagues, all queries with regard to cases should be directed to Adv Masia.
