Future looks bright for abandoned baby

The future looks bright for a little baby boy who was abandoned by his mother shortly after birth. The baby was found in the local bushes in Musina.

Upon discovering the baby, police brought him to Musina Hospital where it was confirmed that he was healthy. Nurses have named him Ofense (Victory) and he is innocently enjoying life in the children’s ward. The child’s mother has been successfully traced and arrested by the police.

Musina Municipality Mayor Cllr Caroline Mahasela paid a special visit to the brave baby at the hospital. She said it was an unacceptable thing to abandon an innocent baby who would one day grow up and occupy an influential position in the community. She added that Ofense was one of the luckiest babies on earth because he was discovered alive. "Most parents would strangle their newborn babies before throwing them in dustbins, toilets or bushes. We strongly believe that the boy will make it and grow up to make a contribution in our community. He looks bright and courageous and we have no doubt that he will face the challenges of life with more courage."

The mayor thanked the hospital staff, police officers, social workers and community members who contributed towards the safety of the special baby. "It is our joint duty to make sure that children receive the best love, care and affection because God has brought them in this world for special reasons. We would like to convey our gratitude to everyone who contributed to save the life of this wonderful baby."

The matron of Musina Hospital, Constance Seko, said the baby was brought to the hospital three weeks ago when he was fewer than ten days old. "We are presently taking care of the baby and he is fine, beautiful and healthy. We are presently waiting for procedures through our social worker because there are family members who are willing to adopt the baby. The outcome will also determine if the child will be transferred to a place of safety."
