A 30-year-old man of Tshavhalovhedzi shot and killed himself near policemen from the Siloam police station on Christmas Day.
Two police inspectors from Siloam police station went to Tshavhalovhedzi around 14:00 to arrest the suspect for house breaking. Siloam police station spokesman Insp Mboneni Mudimeli said that when the suspect learned that police had arrived to arrest him, he ran into the house. Two policemen negotiated with the suspect to come out, but he refused.
After a short while, the policemen heard a shot and when they went to investigate, they found that the man had shot himself in the head.
In another tragic incident that took place on Christmas Day, when a 50-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run incident on the Tshitavha-Phadzima road on 25th December. Police are investigating the incident, but no arrests have been made yet.
