The Zwashu indigenous and cultural dance organisation showed generosity when it adopted Shudufhadzo Thangavhuelelo of Matanda. Shudufhadzo was presented with R1 000 to purchase a school uniform and groceries.
After the annual competition of Zwashu indigenous and cultural dances, Zwashu indigenous and cultural dances’ management decided to adopt Shudufhadzo Thangavhuelelo of Tshikona Tsha matanda. Shudufhadzo was crowned the overall winner of the best upcoming Tshikona dancer during last year’s competition. He was the youngest participant in the competition.
"After the competition, we learned that Shudufhadzo is an orphan. We decided to adopt him and see to it that he lives a normal life like everyone else," said the president of Zwashu, Mr Tshianeo Mathidi, adding that they intend to adopt Shudufhadzo until they find someone to adopt him.
The chairperson of Zwashu, Mr Aifheli Tshivhase, encouraged learners to study hard and engage themselves in cultural dances. "If you happen to participate in cultural dances, you will be able to cherish your culture and know very well where you are coming from and where you are going," said Tshivhase, adding that Shudufhadzo has accepted that he doesn’t have parents, but he is living his life to the fullest.
Zwashu also donated R500 to the Ludane Primary School to promote cultural dances.
Ludane’s principal told Mirror that Shudufhadzo is a bright leaner who has a bright future ahead of him.
