The village of Ngwekhulu outside Vuwani is still in a state shock after a man was caught red-handed while allegedly having sexual intercourse with a goat.

The incident took place last Wednesday night.

According to the owner of the goat, Mr Wilson Madume, it was around midnight when he heard his goat making an unusual sound that made him suspect that she might be in pain. "At first I ignored it, but when I heard it for the second time, I decided to go and investigate as I suspected that something bad might be going on."

"I got the shock of my life when I arrived at the kraal and I saw a naked man on top of my pregnant goat. I am confused and cannot understand that a man can treat a goat as his own wife." The 72-year-old grandpa said that he then decided to block the way out for the naked man, who tried to escape. "We started to wrestle, because I did not allow him to leave my kraal."

Madume said when he started to overpower the naked man, the man started to bite him all over the body. "He was biting me everywhere and I finally let him go when he nearly bit my private parts," said Madume.

Madume, who is known as Vho-Gameli, said that he was forced to visit the clinic early in the next morning for his wounds to be treated and he eventually reported the matter to the police, who arrested the suspect.

The man appeared in court on a charge of bestiality and the case was postponed to April 3.
