Joseph Sadiki passes away

The former Phalaphala FM manager, Mr Joseph Gert Sadiki (62), passed away at the Kalefong Hospital in Pretoria last Saturday.

Sadiki joined the South African Broadcasting Corporation in 1969 as an announcer and in 1987 he was promoted to senior announcer. He held several positions in the corporation. In 1983, he became the programmer director, in 1985 educational programmes manager, in 1986 manager of regional and magazine programmes, in 1987 production organizer, in 1990 specialist producer and from 1991 until 2000 he was the station manager. He was one of the first black managers in SABC radio.

He was an advisor of the Lemba Cultural Association and chairperson of Munzhedzi Primary School from 2001 until 2006. He was also an active member of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church and held the post as regional treasurer and member of the executive in the national church body during his days.

The SABC Limpopo Regional manager, Mr Victor Ravhuanzwo, this week passed his condolences to the Sadiki family and added that Mr Sadiki had been a great leader.

The family spokesperson, Mr Justice Sadiki, said that they had lost a pillar who loved every person he worked with. Sadiki is survived by two children and six grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at Vleifontein hall tomorrow (Saturday) at 06:30.
