THOHOYANDOU - The Director: Community Services of the Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality, Nkhumeleni Anderson Mudunungu, was last week admitted as an advocate of the High Court of South Africa during a session of the High Court in Thohoyandou.

Adv Mudunungu has obtained the right of appearance in any court, including the constitutional court, representing individuals in either civil or criminal cases

Mudunungu, who matriculated in 1998 at the Mainganya Secondary School at Muwaweni, enrolled for the B Juris degree at the University of Venda in 1989. In 1994, he worked at a court in Johannesburg as prosecutor. “The following year, I went to the Rand Afrikaans University, doing an Advanced Business Management Diploma as a full-time student, which I completed in record time,” he said.

In 1998 and 1999, he registered for an LLB at the University of Venda, which he also completed. He was elected councillor for the Vhembe District Municipality and served as member of the mayoral committee until 2003, when he was appointed as Director for Community Services at the Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality.

When asked how he was going to manage working as a director and an advocate, he said that he would always embark on the developmental activities of municipalities, while as an advocate, he could sometimes work during weekends or when not being too committed at his full-time work.
