The community’s complaints about the damaged streets in Louis Trichardt will soon be a thing of the past, says the Makhado Municipality spokesperson, Mr Louis Bobodi.

According to Bobodi, the municipality has already started reconstructing the damaged streets around Louis Trichardt. He added that the project of addressing the damaged streets started two weeks ago at Eltivillas. "Due to a lack of funds, our streets have not been repaired for quite sometime. We have now received funds to address this challenge and we believe that this problem will soon be a thing of the past," said Bobodi. The reconstruction of the roads in Eltivillas will cost the municipality R2 million, the industrial area will cost R2 million and Louis Trichardt’s road damage will cost R16 million.

Bobodi further believes that the project of reconstructing streets at Eltivillas and industrial area will be finished before June. "People will understand that we are now reconstructing the whole surface. We are not just patching the potholes, but removing the old surface"

He said that the municipality appreciated the patience of all the road users who drove every day on the damaged streets. He urged all road users to cooperate with contractors during their process of reconstruction. He added that the municipality would be starting with other projects to reconstruct streets in the CBD that are also damaged before June.
