The corpse of an unknown man was found in the Louis Trichardt municipal park, just below the library, at around 10:00 on Friday morning. The police suspect that the man died of exposure during the early hours of Friday morning.

According to the spokesperson of the local SAPS, Capt Maano Sadike, passersby saw the man’s body lying in the park on Friday, June 27. Upon closer investigation it was discovered that the man was dead.

The people immediately alerted the police, who rushed to the scene and certified the man as deceased. Their preliminary investigations appear to indicate that the man was a Zimbabwean, as a number of onlookers at the scene came from that country and they indicated that the man was a compatriot.

At this stage, the cause of death is not yet known, but an inquest docket has been opened and the investigation continues.
