Mbilwi donate profit to the needy

THOHOYANDOU - After making a profit of R9 000 in the Old Mutual Business Project, Mbilwi Secondary School donated 30% of their profit to charity organisations around Thohoyandou last Thursday.

Mbilwi donated a cheque of R1 350 to the Thusanani Christian Association for Disabled People at Tshivhulani Village and proceeded to the Thohoyandou Place of Safety, where they donated 16 new blankets and towels.

These donations came after Mbilwi Secondary School got R1 000 from Old Mutual and participated in the project of selling hot dogs at the school premises for a period of five months. They won the competetion on district level. The district gave them R2 500 cash and, for their third po-sition on provincial level, they won R2 500 and a voucher of R200. In the competition, they made a profit of R9 000 of which 30% was donated to charity organisations and 10% to the students.

According to the educator and project coordinator, Mr Ronald Mushophe, the school is aiming at developing students to contribute to the economy of the country and reducing the number of people who go to micro-lenders Matshonise). “Next year, the school will continue with the project,” he said.

The assistant director of Thusanani, Mr Lawrence Masakona, said the Thusanani Christian Association for the disabled will utilize the money to purchase catering materials. This institution started in 1985 and cares for disabled people.
