Learners from Laerskool Louis Trichardt have qualified to participate in a nationwide leadership programme.

Children from around the world who show leadership potential are invited to attend an international programme in the United States of America. The learners who were selected are Caren Barkhuizen, Ntshuxeko Mdaka, Rama Raphalalani, Hanri Roos and Talita Kloppers.

The programme involves experiencing a college campus adventure focused on maximising potential as a young leader and enables children to develop leadership skills with other high-achieving students from around the world. The programme was initiated by former US President Dwight D Eisenhower in 1956. The founding mission of the programme is Peace through Understanding.

The school say that they are very proud of the children and that to be chosen to represent the country is a great honour.

So far, Caren and Hanri have indicated that they have marked Los Angeles as one of their preferred destinations for the week or two leadership programme which they will attend during the course of next year.
