ELIM – The Waterval SAPS are appealing to members of the community to assist them in arresting two unknown men who hijacked a brown Honda Ballade at the Elim Complex on April 9 at about 20:30.
According to the police, the Honda Ballade, with registration number LRM 515 GP, was pulling a trailer with chemicals toilets that were going to be delivered at the IEC polling station around the Waterval area. Two thugs, one armed with a firearm, suddenly approached the driver, while the other one forced him to occupy the back seat. It was said that, during the scuffle, a shot was fired into the ground, but no one was injured.
One man drove away with the victim along the Vleifontein/Mailaskop road. They stopped next to the church at Maila, tied the driver up with a rope and drove away.
In a separate incident, three unknown men, armed with knives and a firearm, vanished with four cellphones and R500 in cash they allegedly robbed at Abba Bakery at Bungeni on April 12 at about 02:30.
The police said that three armed robbers went to Abba Bakery and one of them blocked the entrance, holding a firearm, while his accomplices, holding knives, ordering bakery workers to lie down, while demanding money. They then forced one of the persons at the premises to give them money and cellphones before they disappeared into the darkness.
