To reduce the escalating rate of crime in the Vhulaudzi area, the MEC for Safety and Security, Ratshivhanda Ndou, opened the new satellite police station at Tshitavha village last Thursday.

Ndou said that the residents of the Vhulaudzi area had written several letters to his department, asking them to consider the establishment of a satellite police station. “We looked at the crime statistics in the Siloam police area and took the decision to build the new satellite police station,” said Ndou.

He added that, during the past few years, several horrific murders took place in the area - in 2006, three members of one family were killed at Tshitavha, two people were murdered at Phadzima and  four  young  children died at Tshivhilidulu, after  they were hacked to  death.

Ndou stated that the corruption in the public sector is a challenge that all people should fight with determination. “When we deploy our officers, we want to be sure that we have men and women of integrity, who are confident and determined to do their work. We are  committed to fighting  corruption and this  is demonstrated by our determination and ability to deal  with  elements of our  society  who want  to rob taxpayers of  scarce  resources,” said  Ndou.

Thovhele Khosi Vho-Toni Mphephu Ramambulana told the young ones around Vhulaudzi area that no brain would function properly if it was saturated with alcohol or drugs. He further warned them that selling drugs at school was a criminal offence. Mphephu expressed appreciation for the fact that the department had built a satellite station and appealed to  the community members  to work closely with  the police.
