Eight years prison time for two thieves

News  Date: 15 August 2008

Two men, Godfrey Pheeha Ramoroka and Josias Magota, both from Bochum, were recently convicted of housebreaking and theft and of motor vehicle theft in the regional court in Louis Trichardt.

They were both sentenced to eight years in prison on count one and to three years in prison on count two. The two sentences will be served simultaneously.

The case stemmed from an incident on December 22, 2006, when the two broke into the house of Mr JW van Reenen on a farm in the Waterpoort district. They stole a number of articles from the house, as well as some tools from the garage. Afterwards, they broke into the bakkie of the plaintiff, hot-wired it and left the farm with it. They were later arrested and some of the stolen goods were recovered, as well as the bakkie.
