MUSINA – The explosives unit at the local police office opened a case of illegal possession of explosives, after explosives were found on a farm near Mopane.
All units of the police responded to a complaint by an informant that there were explosives on the farm. Capt Swarts of the Explosives Unit, Musina, retrieved explosives that were buried underground. The presence and location of the explosives were confirmed by explosives sniffer dogs in an area marked by the informant.
In all, 42 smoke grenades, four rifle grenades, one Mills hand grenade, one M26 practice hand grenade, one 37mm Stopper rubber round and various rounds of different calibres (9mm, 7.62, .38, 222, .32 and 243) were found.
The case is still under investigation.
