News  Date: 19 September 2008

The Munyai family of Khakhanwa in Mulenzhe outside Thohoyandou is appealing to members of the public to help them trace a lost relative.

Kenneth Hasani Munyai is alleged to have left the family home on August 8 this year, for business at a neighbouring village. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, white trousers and blue plastic sandals. He is of medium height, has a tattoo on the left arm and he is coffee coloured. He is also mentally troubled.

According to the father of the missing man, Mr Joseph Munyai, he came back from the fields on that particular day to find his son was not at home. On enquiring about his whereabouts, he was told that the man had gone to sell some music CDs to a certain woman at the neighbouring Dovheni Village.

A Zimbabwean is alleged to have informed the mother, Ms Mbazima Mashavha, that he was going to meet a certain woman only identified as Tsakani who resides at Dovheni village. Munyai said they waited and night fell without his coming back home. “We were panicking as he had never done that before and we decided to search in the neighbourhood, but in vain,” he said. He said they reported the matter to the local traditional leader the following day after trying in vain to locate his son.

Days passed by without any trace of the missing man and that prompted the family to report the matter to the police. “I wonder what could have happened to my son. I just have a feeling that he must be still alive but what is worrying me is the time. He has never been absent for so many days,” he said “Please, wherever you are, come back. We still love you and we want you back with the family,” he said.

Insp Nkanukeni Raedani, spokesperson of the Limpopo police in Vhembe, confirmed that a missing person’s docket had been opened “We are appealing to anybody with information concerning the whereabouts of the man to come and assist us in our investigations,” he said. He said investigations were continuing.
