“When you go to the various institutions of higher learning education after passing your matric examinations, we will be expecting you to come back with diplomas or degrees, and not with babies as others do,” said a member of the Tshikevha Christian School board, Mr NR Malinda.

He was one of the speakers during his school’s matric farewell function which was held at Mirunzini Conference Centre at Tshifulanani last Friday evening.

The principal, Mr TE Ratshibvumo, stated that the success of the school was measured by the number of graduates at tertiary level. “If you succeed at tertiary level, we will also walk tall. Your success is our success,” he said.

Ratshibvumo further indicated that a school which produces matriculants who go nowhere is as good as the one that produces street kids. He praised the parents and guardians for the sacrifices they had made in the past years for the sake of their children’s education. He stressed the fact that his school has a reputation of producing quality matric results every year.

A representative of the parents, Mr MW Mandende, advised the Grade 12 learners to choose good friends when they go to the tertiary institutions, saying that “association builds character”.

The guest speaker, Pastor MS Muhali, encouraged the children to maintain the loyalty they had demonstrated during their stay at Tshikevha Christian School when they went to the various tertiary institutions next year. There are 46 matric learners at the school this year.
