Professor Cornelis Roelofse, Head of the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Venda, has been invited to delivery a paper on community policing in Brazil.

Prof Roelofse, an expert on community policing, has been invited by the Brazilian Ministry of Justice to deliver a paper on the subject during a three-day seminar in Sao Polo, from November 26 until 28 this year. The seminar is hosted by the Brazilian National Secretariat of Public Security and Prof Roelofse’s trip is fully funded by the Brazilian government.

Prof Roelofse’s invitation to deliver a paper, “Community Policing in South Africa and England (the London Model) – a Comparative Perspective,” earns further recognition for the University of Venda.

“I am so pleased with this invitation. It follows concerted efforts to get recognition for the work my department is doing in the field of criminal justice and community policing in particular,” Prof Roelofse said.
