This month is the last one for the former sports lecturer at the now-defunct Makhado College of Education, Mr Kenneth “Brother” Neluvhalani, as the head of sports infrastructure at the University of Pretoria.

He will become the new general manager of football at the institution on February 1.

Neluvhalani joined the University of Pretoria in 2006. Realizing that the Tshakhuma-based Neluvhalani was rich when it comes to managerial skills, it did not take long for the university to recommend him to become a board member of Cycling South Africa two years ago.

When asked what his new appointment entails, Neluvhalani was quick to mention that he will be responsible for the general management of the football teams from the development side to the professional team, University of Pretoria FC or Amatuks.

Neluvhalani further said that it will be his responsibility to ensure that women’s football and the football academy for the university are in good shape. He reiterated the fact that he will never interfere with the technical staff of the main team as is the case in many National First Division teams throughout the country.

He also indicated that he will create a conducive environment to the technical staff and all stakeholders, so that they don’t blame him when they fail to do their jobs. He indicated that one of the things which are high on his priority list is to ensure that the main team gains promotion to the PSL next season if at all they fail to make it at the end of the current season.

Neluvhalani played for Tshakhuma Chibuku Young Stars between 1985 and 1990. He was a team captain during his stay at Young Stars. At that stage, the president of the Vhembe Region of SAFA, Mr Kirsten Nematandani, was the team’s head coach.
