Suspect arrested after spate of armed robberies

The police in Louis Trichardt arrested a 19-year-old Zimbabwean male on Sunday, January 25, at Tshikota on a number of charges relating to robbery and assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm.

The suspect is being linked with more than ten cases of common robbery and assault to do grievous bodily harm after he allegedly attacked his victims by stabbing them with a knife and forcing them to surrender either money or cell phones. The man operated in the vicinity of Eltivillas, hiking spots, parks and thoroughfares, after which he would vanish into the bushes. He would apparently hide out in the tree sanctuary, the indigenous tree park and the area close to Firefly. All these incidents took place between December of last year and the time of his arrest.
