Learners from eight schools around Madombidzha village will have the privilege of becoming computer literate, after well-known businessman and politician Mr Cyril Ramaphosa decided to donate 10 computers to the rural schools.

The official handing over of the computers was held at Nndwakhulu Primary school at Madombidzha on Saturday. The eight schools who received the computers are Madombidzha, Nndwakhulu, Litshovhu High, Jonathan Thifhulifheli, Maluta High, Tshilwavhusiku Primary, Tshikwarani and Petamukanda. Mr Joe Raulinga, the representative of the donor company, Shanduka, said that they believe that the development of the nation goes hand in hand with the availability of proper facilities.

Raulinga stated that it was a mistake for companies to think they can leave the development of young pupils’ education to the government alone. “These computers will assist the schools in their daily activities and it will also stress that Shanduka is serious about the education of our children. The computers will obviously motivate the learners and we believe other schools will also be motivated to work harder,” said Raulinga.

He further said that the company is engaged in several initiatives to develop the community through education. “In the past, Shanduka handed over a lot of education equipment to needy schools and the company is still continuing to give back to our communities,” he said.

The principal of Nndwakhulu Primary school, Mr Matamba Manenzhe, applauded Shanduka for their donation and said the computers will help the school and learners a lot. He appealed to other companies to follow the giant step taken by Shanduka to plough something significant back into the community.

The headmaster of Madombidzha Primary school, Ms Maria Lethole, was over the moon. “We thank Shanduka for their kind gesture and we hope they will continue assisting the deprived communities. The computers will assist us since we are still running short of educational equipment,” she said.
