Ridgeway headmaster on his way to Nigeria

News  Date: 27 March 2009

Mr David Jennings, headmaster of Ridgeway College in Louis Trichardt, will be leaving the college at the end of this school term. He will be taking up a position in Nigeria.

Ms Leigh Bristow, one of the founding members of the college and also the first head at the college, will be taking over from Jennings in the second term.

In his farewell message, Jenning said: “Sometimes, when opportunity knocks, it is inopportune and unexpected. It comes at a time when one is not fully prepared to take up the challenges that the opportunity presents. It is with mixed feelings that I bid farewell to the staff, students and parents of Ridgeway College at the end of March. The entire Ridgeway community has been a wonderful support and constant source of positive en-ergy and synergy.”

Jennings said that he enjoyed and appreciated the professionalism of the teachers, the enthusiasm and confidence of the students, the support and co-operation of the parents and the board of governors, for their input and vested interested in the college.

Jennings will take up a position as founding head of an international school in Aboekuta, Ni-geria.

“The opportunity and challenges that this position brings could not be easily overlooked, hence my decision to take up this ‘adventurous’ position. It is this opportunity and the challenge of entering the international school environment that has attracted me to West Africa. I have always maintained that Ridgeway College has a tremendous amount to offer the students and indeed the Louis Trichardt community and I am sure that, with time, this potential will be realized,” Jennings said.

He wished the college, under the leadership of Bristow, the students, staff and parents, the best.
