THOHOYANDOU - The Thohoyandou Nursing College students are on strike, protesting against the suspension of the Automatic Supplementary Examination in the nursing colleges.
Nursing college students have illegally closed the college's main gate with wood and stones, and locked the college management out. The Student Representative Council said that the management has taken a step to terminate the automatic supplementary without any consultation with the students.
"We need the automatic supplementary to be written this year and it can be terminated next year. It is not good to terminate the automatic supplementary after we have already written the examination," they said. "Three years back students were allowed to write the automatic examination, regardless of the marks they got. Now the management said it was a pilot study."
"In 2002 all three nursing colleges failed the Level 02 Psychiatric reports and the management gave each and every student 26% worth of free marks. The management didn't tell us why we failed the psychiatric report. We will open the gate if the management is ready to sit down and agree that the automatic supplementary examination cannot be terminated now," they said
