MOPANI – The search for the unknown gunmen who shot and seriously wounded a well-known teacher and businessman was still continuing at the time of going to press.
The incident took place at Shitlelani Village near Malamulele, on Saturday night at about 23:00.
According to the spokesperson of the police in the Mopani Area, Insp Moatshe Ngoepe, the victim was at his Shitlelani home when an unknown man approached him and pretended that he wanted to be directed to a certain place.
While the victim was trying to assist him, another man arrived at the scene. The man produced a firearm and shot the victim without saying a word. The gunmen vanished into the darkness after the incident. The victim's relative took him to the nearby hospital in his car, a white Ford Leisure, with the registration number DSV 908N.
The gunmen did not go away when the victim's relative took him to hospital. On arrival back home, the gunmen attacked the victim's relative while parking the vehicle. They later robbed him of the vehicle and drove away with it.
According to the police statement the victim was still in a critical condition at the time of going to press. The victim is a teacher at the George Sonto High School, and a prosperous businessman in the area.
