Mystery surrounds the death of an unidentified man who died on Monday (6th) on the N1 south, near Northgate Lodge, just outside Louis Trichardt.

The man, who was journeying together with his colleagues on the back of a truck, was run over by a bakkie, after he had fallen from the truck. He died on the scene. After the bakkie had driven over the man, the driver fled the scene hastily.

The question now remains whether the man had been pushed from the truck or whether he had fallen by accident. Local police spokesperson Capt Maano Sadike confirmed that the police had opened a case of culpable homicide and that they were busy investigating the matter.

He called on the public to come forward if they have any information regarding the bakkie that fled the scene of the accident.
