He had a gargantuan appetite for sex which saw him allegedly raping a minor, who ended up biting off a chunk of his tongue. Now he is locked up in the police cells.
After committing the crime, he thought of a way to conceal his bad deed. He tried to fool the police, but fell right into their trap and was arrested.
Victor Madiya (29) of Tshakhuma was fresh from committing a crime and his victim had bitten off a large part of his tongue. The man in his thirties is alleged to have raped the 14-year-old girl in the bushes in the vicinity of the University of Venda. He tried conning the police by reporting that he had been the victim of a ritual murder attempt and wanted to lay a charge.
Police had already received a complaint from a 14-year-old victim of rape and had received the description of the suspect. Police pretended to help him and took him to the police station in the guise of helping him open a case. On his arrival at the police station and still bleeding from his wound, the suspect could not believe what he saw. The victim that he had raped earlier was still busy opening the case. The man could not bear it and he collapsed right there and fainted.
Police had to rush him to the hospital where he received treatment and was taken back to custody. The incident happened on Thursday last week.
The victim was in town with her brother to withdraw money. The brother had left her after promising that he would come back to a restaurant in town. While she was still in the restaurant, a man who might have seen them and overhead what they were saying, later came to the girl and told her that she was just wasting her time as the brother was somewhere else and he could take her to the place. He allegedly sweet-talked her and they ended up going together.
On their way to the place, the man allegedly produced a knife and demanded sex. The man then succeeded in having sex with her, but the victim convinced her that they had to play it cool as if they were lovers and could still have sex and caress each other. It is alleged that the man wanted to kiss her “to cement their love”.
It seems as if he got more than he bargained for as the victim plunged her teeth deep into his tongue and ran away to the police station, leaving her assailant groaning in pain.
Limpopo police spokesperson in Vhembe Captain Mashudu Malelo said the man was one of the dumbest men they had ever arrested. “He wanted us to chase a wild goose by laying a false charge of attempted ritual murder, fully knowing that he had committed rape. He thought that he would fool us and cover up for his crimes, but how wrong he was! We are trained to do our job and it is easy to detect if someone is lying or is telling the truth. He set himself up and he is now safely behind bars,” he said.
Malelo said Madiya had been charged with rape and that investigations were continuing. Madiya, who is said to have difficulty speaking, appeared in court on Monday.
