Woman arrested for sexually abusing boy

News  Date: 17 July 2009

A 35-year-old Beit Bridge woman from Nsuza village has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy, claiming that she wanted to initiate him into manhood.

The suspect, Georgina Vundla, appeared before a local magistrate, Mrs Sibonginkosi Mnkandla, on Friday, facing charges of having sex with a minor. The case was postponed to 23 July for trial and she remains in custody after being denied bail.

The court heard that on July 2, Vundla was at her home when she spotted the victim passing near her place. She then called the victim over and the boy complied. On his arrival, the woman allegedly told the boy that she wanted to teach him something “unique” as she did not want “fools” to live in the village.

The court heard that Vundla then allegedly summoned the victim to a nearby bushy area, where she had sexual intercourse with him.

Soon after the incident, the boy went and reported the mater to his parents, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
