A new Checkers Hyper store is scheduled to open in August next year in a brand new centre in Louis Trichardt.

Construction work at the new site on the corner of Songozwi and Munnik Street started a few weeks ago. The developer is the Noor Group of Properties. The new centre will stretch over roughly 12 000m² and is designed at three levels, the bottom level being the parking bays.

According to Mr Solly Noor, the anchor tenants are Checkers, First National Bank and Nedbank. The Checkers Hyper store will take up almost 5 000m² which will allow them ample space for their various departments such as a bakery, butchery, fresh food and vegetables section and a winery. Consumers will be excited to learn that the popular Checkers pharmacy is also in the pipeline.

First National Bank is also planning on moving into this new centre and their branch will take up roughly 2 500m². Their neighbours will be Nedbank, which will mean that the centre should be a very convenient place for consumers to do all their banking. The remainder of the shops will be a mixture of coffee shops, restaurants and clothing and other merchandise. The top storey will com-prise A-grade office space.

According to Mr Noor, the design of the centre makes provision for some 400 parking bays.

The centre was designed by Osglo Architects, a company that has almost become synonymous with the Noor Group’s development projects. The initial groundwork is being done by Rubicon Construction. The tenders for the construction of the building should be finalised soon.
