TSHIVHULANA - The residents of Tshivhulana in Vuwani are still shocked and worried about the suspected ritual murder of Vulani Shithlabana (12), who was killed at the Manavhela grazing camp last month.
The villagers are accusing the Vuwani police officers of sluggish work and of failing to arrest the suspects. Some of the suspects were questioned and later released, due to a lack of evidence.
The interim committee of Tshivhulana, which is dealing with the matter, told Mirror that they need a case to be investigated nationally, "because the police officers of Vuwani are failing to arrest those people who killed the young girl."
One of the interim committee members, who did not want to be named, told Mirror that the committee members have received information in connection with the murder and passed it on the police. "Since we informed the police officers, they have never come to question the suspect. That is why the community members of Tshivhulana no longer trust them, and we have applied to organise a demonstration march."
The Vuwani police spokesperson, Insp Mangalani Ramulifho, said that the police cannot just arrest everybody in the street without tested information.
