Mambo wins Two Countries Marathon

The well-known Zimbabwean runner and three-time winner of the prestigious Two Oceans Marathon, Marco Mambo, won the Two Countries Marathon from Zimbabwe to Musina last Saturday.

Mambo, who won the Two Oceans in 2004, 2005 and 2008, won the race in 2:27, five seconds in front of Nosiyazi Sibanda, with Jeffrey Chabalala in third place.

Steven Motau won the division for veterans, with Thomas Mabushele second and Edward Mammba third. Petrus Davhana was the first master athlete in the marathon, and Jim Mofokane came second and Johannes Mosetla was first grand master home in the marathon.

Gladys Lukwareni won the women’s division of the marathon, with Jane Mudau sedond and D’Vida Otto in third place.

Mudau won the division for veterans, Shelly Masindi was second and Betty Mundalamo third. Corrie Fourie won the masters’ division, with Catherind Monja in second place.

In the men’s division of the half-marathon, Kelvin Phangiso won, Portipher Donbojena was second and Joshua Saboa ended third. The first three places in the veteran’s division were Maxwell Bongani, Jackson soanego and Nickholas Nyengerayi.

Olivia Chitole, Pauline Phaho and Sharon Chinokuya won the medals in the half-marathon for women.
