News  Date: 25 September 2009

Phalaphala FM and 54 of its listeners will be jetting off to Hong Kong and China on Friday, September 25, for a tour that will last until October 2.

According to the marketing officer of Phalaphala, Rudzani Neluheni, the station started with the listeners’ annual tour in 1991 as a way of demonstrating the buying potential of the station’s audience. The station also wanted to establish an emotional bond with their listeners.

“Potential tourists are presented with alternative destinations and decide on the place, based on the price of the trip and interest shown by the audience. The listeners pay for the trip, accommodation and meals,” she said.

She added that the places visited since 1991 include the Portuguese Islands, Thailand, Malaysia, Turkey, Argentina, Brazil, Greece, Thailand, Spain and France.

This year, listeners will visit Lantau Island, Repulse Way Bay and Stanley Market, the Lowu Shopping Mall, Ocean Park to see Pandas and dolphins, Po Lin Monastery and Wisdom Path to enjoy the spectacular jelly fish and the dragon roller coaster.
