A well-known resident and member of the Louis Trichardt Bowls Club, Mr Brian Abbott, died at the age of 73 on Wednesday morning, November 25.

Mr Abbott, born on August 12, 1936 and beloved husband of Eleanor, died in the Zoutpansberg Private Hospital after a long struggle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He will be remembered for both his association with VBS Mutual Bank, of which he was a former CEO, as well as his love for bowls. Mr Abbott is a past president and honorary member of the Impala Sub District Bowl Association, as well as a past president and honorary member of the Louis Trichardt Bowls Club. He was also an executive member of Limpopo Bowls.

Mr Abbott’s funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 28, at the Methodist Church here at 10:00. He is survived by his mother Patricia, brothers and sister Kevin, Michael and Yvonne, wife Eleanor, children Cathie, Susan, Wendy and Charles and their spouses and grandchildren Adele, Roland, Jamie-Lee, Jason, Sara-Jane and Andrew.
