The municipal manager of Musina, Mr Abram Luruli, said he would not be distracted by people who wanted him to lose focus from his obligation of delivering efficient service to the people of Musina.
This comes after he was greeted by a threatening letter underneath his office door on Tuesday morning. The letter, which was handwritten, threatened to deal with Luruli and further said he would never escape.
The letter, written in broken English, further instructed Luruli to go back to his home village of Vleifontein because a kid from Musina will soon become the next municipal manager. It further accused Luruli of giving too much protection to Mayor Caroline Mahasela. It reads: “Luruli, go bek to Vlei wer u kum from. Musina kid will be MM. U protect Mahasela tooo much. We will get u – be aware. Wa di itisa, Yeses.”
The letter was handed over to the Musina SAPS, who are investigating the issue. Luruli said he was committed to his job and would never back off from doing what the legislation of the country mandated him to do.
He said: “I am doing my best to ensure that I leave no stone unturned, to make sure that my key performance areas are performed exclusively. These include basic service delivery, local economic development, municipal financial viability, municipal transformation and good governance and public participation. I will continue to do my job as mandated by the electorate and council of the municipality.”
