Tshilidzi “Raider” Muleba became the new ladies featherweight champion of Vhembe, when she beat Mukondi “Destroyer” Mukondeleli on points at the Tshakhuma Spar on Saturday. The tournament was staged by Venda Boxing Promotions and sponsored by Tshakhuma Spar.
The light bantamweight fight between Charles Sikhwivhilu and Rendani Ramudzuli from Nzhelele, which was scheduled over six rounds, ended two rounds before the scheduled time. It was stopped by the referee because Ramudzuli was bleeding from his nose and mouth. The local up-and-coming professional boxer, Simon “Golden Boy” Mukhoro, beat his Tswinga-based oppo-nent, Ndivhuwo “Horse Power” Luvhengo. The referee was left with no choice but to stop the fight in the fifth round to save Sikhwivhilu’s life. At that stage, Mukhoro was throwing numerous killer punches into Ndivhuwo’s face.
The junior lightweight bout, featuring the local boxers Gabriel Nengovhela and Charles Luvhengo, was fought to the bitter end and at the end Nengovhela won on points.
The junior middleweight fight between Vicent Mulaudzi and Pitsi Sebola, both from local stables, lasted less than two rounds. The referee stopped it in the second round, declaring it a TKO for Mulaudzi, who was all over Sebola from the start.
Phathutshedzo Dongola impressed the judges, when he beat Molefi Banyane on points in their light-featherweight fight. This was the fifth win for the promising Dongola.
In the main supporting bout, Mutshu Mudau impressed her fans when she beat her challenger, Khathutshelo Ndou.
Mudau approached the fight aggressively, throwing killer punches from all angles. That resulted in Ndou’s falling down in the first round. Ndou indicated that he was prepared to go on with the fight after the referee had counted to eight. The fight came to a halt for about two minutes in the second round to allow Ndou to recover after his claim that he had been hit below the belt. Although the fight was scheduled over six rounds, the referee stopped it in the fourth round, to save Ndou from serious injuries.
