One of the last surviving founder members of the Turbi Hills Shellhole of the MOTHs in Louis Trichardt, Mr Christopher Francis “Kit” Sutton, passed away on 28 December last year, after a short illness. He was 85 years old. He was also a founder member of the local Lions Club and Round Table.

His funeral was conducted from the Louis Trichardt Catholic Church by Father Frank Gallagher on 2 January.

Kit was a veteran from World War II, where he was based in Italy as navigator in a bomber crew.

He had a profound knowledge of fighter planes, was an avid bowls player, had a love of nature and enjoyed outdoor life.

With his wife Katica he shared a marriage which lasted for more than 51 years. They had been residents of Louis Trichardt for all these years, where Kit was known throughout the region for his work as a land surveyor.

Katica says Kit has touched many lives and left behind a legacy of joy, spontaneous fun, discipline, loyalty and companionship.
