News  Date: 22 January 2010

For the first time last year there were three Grade 12 candidates from Emmanuel Christian School outside Louis Trichardt who will need to write supplementary examinations in March this year, mainly in mathematics.

In spite of this, the school was very pleased with the 92% pass rate and the standard of the symbols attained. Four of their Grade 12 candidates achieved four distinctions each. Also pleasing was the fact that the number of distinctions obtained by the group of students increased from 19 distinctions in 2008, (for 28 students), to 36 distinctions in 2009 (for 38 candidates). 61% of the candidates achieved a Bachelor´s Pass (university admission).

The four students who achieved four distinctions each were Maano Denga, Elikanami Ole-Meiludie, Kgaogelo Ntjana and Mudindivhathu Raliphada.

Maano obtained A symbols in Mathematics, Accounting, Business Studies and Life Orientation and B symbols for Physical Sciences and Afrikaans. He is enrolled at the University of Cape Town to study accounting.  Elikanami achieved distinctions for Mathematics, Accounting, Life Sciences and Life Orientation and a B for Physical Sciences. He is also enrolled at the University of Cape Town to study accounting, but plans to do Actuarial Science ultimately.

Kgaogelo obtained A symbols for Afrikaans, Life Sciences, Computer Applications Technology and Life Orientation, and 78% for Mathematics. She is enrolled at Wits University to study medicine and aims to specialise in dermatology or plastic surgery. Mudindivhathu achieved distinctions for Afrikaans, Accounting, Business Studies and Life Orientation, as well as a B in Mathematics. She is enrolled at Wits University to study accounting science with the aim of becoming a chartered accountant.

One other student at the school, Anthea Mapimele, achieved three distinctions in Life Sciences, Afrikaans and Life Orientation respectively.

Currently, the school enrolment stands at just under 600 students with 38 students in the grade 12 class of 2010.
