Four Zimbabwean women made a 25-year-old local man they had offered a lift drink an unknown liquid before forcing him to have sex with them at gunpoint near Beit Bridge along the Masvingo road, police have said.
Police spokesperson Insp Tinaye Matake said the incident occurred on Sunday at around 02:00.
“The victim was waiting for transport near a local car dealer’s premises in Masvingo when the four women, who were driving a red car, offered him a lift to Beit Bridge. After driving some distance, one of the women produced a pistol as the car pulled over to the roadside,” he said.
Insp Matake said the suspects then forced the man to drink an unknown liquid before forcing him to be intimate with all of them.
He said the victim fell unconscious and was dumped at the scene while the women drove off to an unknown destination.
The man regained consciousness at around 10:00 and reported the incident to the police. Matake said the motive behind the rape remained a mystery, though there are suspicions that it might have been for ritual purposes.
No arrests have been made so far and police have launched a manhunt for the suspects.
This becomes the third reported incident in Zimbabwe in four months in which men and teenage boys have been abducted and raped by women.
In November last year, a 15-year-old local boy was kidnapped at knife-point by three men in Warren Park area before being forced to have sex with a woman at a secluded place in the area.
