The Democratic Alliance in Louis Trichardt is concerned about vandalism in the Makhado Municipal area on posters of the DA.
DA municipal councillor Brian Du Plooy reacted in a media statement to the large-scale vandalising of his party’s posters, which emphasise the value of a sound education.
Almost all the multilingual posters which were displayed alongside Rissik Street in Louis Trichardt have been torn down.
Du Plooy says the Democratic Alliance recently launched their National Education Campaign that aims to benefit all groups of society, through the availability of quality education for all children. The campaign strives to rectify the existing problems in the education system within 15 years, by getting the basics right, should the DA take power nationally.
“We place a very high premium on education. All children must emerge from schools able to read, write and calculate at international benchmark levels. After all, the children of today are the future of tomorrow.
“Sadly, the necessary posters that have been put up in the municipal area for this campaign have been torn down by vandals. We view this in a very serious light as it undermines democracy and hampers our efforts and progress toward an open opportunity society for all South Africans,” Du Plooy said.
