Two of the three suspects, namely Afros and Mvelelo, were arrested the same day, while Khangale was arrested last Saturday.
Afros and Mvelelo briefly appeared in the Vuwani Magistrate court last Thursday, when the case was postponed to April 13. The outcome of the proceedings of the appearance in court again on April 13 was not available at the time of going to press.
According to the police, the deceased and the suspects were drinking at a party in the village when they started to disagree. This eventually resulted in a fight. “The three then allegedly stabbed the deceased several times all over the body,” said the Levubu police spokesperson, Insp Solly Mukhola.
He said when the police were called, the deceased was lying in the street, pleading for help. “The victim was then rushed to the Tshilidzini Hospital, from where he was transferred to the provincial hospital in Polokwane. He died last Monday,” said Mukhola.
According to Mukhola, the incident occurred at about 23:35. He added that a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm had initially been opened with the police, but this was later changed to murder.
