THOHOYANDOU - Bhekimuzi Khoza Enock (35) was sentenced in the Thohoyandou High Court on one charge of robbery and four charges of kidnapping on Thursday last week. He was sentenced to 40 years imprisonment, without the option of a fine.
It was found that he had robbed a 40-year-old man of his fire-arm, and kidnapped four boys. He then used the boys to rob various persons in the area. He also physically abused them. The court said that the sentence would send a clear message to the people that crime doesn't pay.
Meanwhile, the Thohoyandou police have opened an inquest docket after a 34-year-old man was found hanging from the roof of his house at Makwarela last Saturday.
The Musina police have opened attempted murder and armed robbery investigations after an unknown suspect had shot and wounded two women with a 7.65 fire-arm at Matswale village last Thursday.
