Noel Maringa of Valdezia in the Mashau area appeared in the Waterval Regional court last Thursday, facing charges of murdering his ex-lover´s boyfriend in the village on March 26. The case was postponed to Friday 23 (today). Maringa allegedly stabbed and killed his ex-lover´s boyfriend, Mr Thomas Maluleke (34) of Bungeni village outside Waterval, on March 26. The incident occurred at Valdezia village. According to information provided by the police, Maluleke had allegedly visited his girlfriend when the incident occurred. Maringa had already broken up with Mpofu, with whom he has a child. Mpofu previously applied for a protection order from the police against Maringa, accusing him of being violent and a threat to her life. The day before the murder, Maringa allegedly went to his ex-lover´s house and started causing problems. He allegedly quarrelled with Mpofu and threatened to beat her. Members of the community policing forum intervened and the problem was solved for the day. According to the police report, Maluleke then spent the night at Mpofu´s house and everything was fine. The next morning he (Maluleke) woke up and went to the bus stop, where he was supposed to catch a bus to work. The suspect, Maringa, was allegedly hiding in a nearby bush waiting for him. The suspect then attacked Maluleke and stabbed him in the neck and in his face. Maluleke, who used to work at the Sapeko Farm, tried to run to a nearby house asking for help, but fell 500 metres from the scene and died on the spot.
